XPAND Amblyz™ Cleared for Sale in the U.S. by the FDA

October 13, 2014
Amblyz™, electronic occluder glasses manufactured by XPAND, received recent clearance from the FDA to be sold and marketed in the U.S.

Amblyz™ glasses represent a new approach in eye occlusion. The electronic device, shaped like an eyeglass frame, is easy to use and made for children ages 3 – 10. Using electronically controlled, intermittent occlusion, Amblyz™ glasses provide eye occlusion without the discomfort and stigma often associated with an eye patch.

“In my long professional experience and opinion, I strongly believe that the Amblyz™ glasses will soon become the most widely used treatment for amblyopia in children,” said Ioannis G. Pallikaris, M.D., professor of ophthalmology at the University of Crete in Greece. “I highly recommend its prescription to all of my colleagues.”

Amblyz™ glasses should be prescribed by an eye-care professional and can be sent to an optician to be fitted with correction lenses. The glasses feature a kid-friendly, unisex design. The inner lining is made of soft rubber to ensure fit and comfort for all-day wear. The device runs on rechargeable batteries, and needs to be connected to a power supply to recharge.

In the U.S., Amblyz™ glasses are available from the Good-Lite Company. For more information on Amblyz™ glasses, or to order please visit: www.good-lite.com
